Photography - Underwater, Land and Fun Adventures !

Road trip on a Motorcycle

Turning 50, I was able to take a trip of a lifetime, a dream come true of an epic road trip. 11k+ miles, six weeks, a ton of fun. (See blog)

New Focuses in Photography

Having limited time to update this site for sometime, it is good to be back. I have a new office I'm moving into, some great pink Floyd playing and more new pictures to post. Living next to an active volcano in Hawaii, I've added some new and old volcano images to the collection. I've also recently been introduced to bird photography via a Jack Jeffries class, so will be posting more of those as well.

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

About Us

We met a few years back, the fall of 1983 and I had just started college as a computer science student at the age of 17. I had brought a small u/w 110 camera and housing with me to college, but quickly moved to a Nikon F2 SLR. Fast forward a few years, a friend suggested I work as the student newspaper photographer. This then gave me access to a black and white darkroom. Rebuilding the campus observatory, I started taking photos thru the campus telescope of the night sky.. Not good for my academic life due to long nights, but great fun regardless. While dating, we would take photo trips around town which was fun, and fun we had. I then spent 23 years in theJanet and John pre-dive Marine Option Program at UH Hilo, getting paid to take photos for species identification and promoting the program.  I also managed the electron microscopy lab taking micrographs and took tons of photos above and below the water to promote the program. I've since moved on to the astronomy department and am back to taking pictures of the night sky.  I find it exciting with a news of a lunar eclipse or other epic astronomical event taking place in Hawai’i. I’ve volunteered for the Pacific Tsunami Museum in Hilo doing computer work from networking, setting up a digital archive system and of course touch screen kiosk systems. It is these touch screen systems that gave me the opportunity to travel to India, Thailand and Alaska setting up multi language kiosks promoting tsunami education.

Please enjoy the images and you can also find me on facebook. Warm Aloha from Volcano, Hawai’i.
